Best. Wedding. Ever.

January 27, 2022

Sometimes, the Universe nudges us toward something we didn’t think of. And when that happens, hold on tight because it’s going to be the Best. Wedding. Ever.

Here’s Chelsey and Lucas’ love story. I recommend grabbing some tissues. Theirs is a tale of generations coming together, of tribute paid to love, and how those relationships formed these two very incredible humans.

“Only 6 months after meeting, we knew we would spend the rest of our lives together. At 20 years old we didn’t feel a rush to tie the knot, but when Lucas proposed with an elaborate sunrise engagement in Bali we were so excited to celebrate our big day by bringing our families together.

“We planned a couple of larger weddings but the universe nudged us to simplify until we landed on a simple day & a weekend filled with only our immediate families. There was bonding over finishing touches on landscaping at our new home – [getting married at our home was] exactly what we’d hope for from the beginning!! We were so giddy to finally spend the rest of our lives together!

“We chose our ceremony location at the end of Taghum Hall Road as a nod to our larger planned wedding out at Taghum Hall the year before, followed by a reception at our new-to-us first home which felt so special and close to our hearts.

“Every moment [in our home] since the wedding has felt sprinkled with memories from our big day & we are so glad to have Bobbi’s beautiful photos to capture our fairytale.

Lucas’ favourite part of the day was waking up next to his stunning & beautiful partner in crime knowing they were going to finally tie the knot and embark on their journey as husband and wife! Chelsey’s favourite part was when they sat in the living room together that morning drinking coffee and tea while they shared their vows with one another before they started the day *cue the happy tears,* as well as having her grandma & mom there to help her put her dress on together.

Our favourite details are truly endless, the whole day was filled with so many personal touches…

Chelsey wore her mama AND grandma’s wedding dress & a locket with with a photo from her grandma & grandpa’s wedding who weren’t able to travel to be with us here in Nelson

We had our loved ones make our favourite desserts, right down to our cutlery gifted to Chelsey’s grandparents on their wedding day & decorated with vintage bottles her dad collected as a kid. Chelsey’s bouquet featured 3 yellow craspedia’s, one for each grandparent of ours who have passed, we know there were celebrating right there with us that day!

We were grateful to have had our niece Marlow as our enthusiastic flower girl & Chelsey’s sister lead the ceremony.

Lucas was particularly happy about having his dad stand up with him after years of asking – his dad insisted “You have friends! Ask them!”, but in this intimate setting he couldn’t say no – Lucas was thrilled 🙂

All of our venders were amazing to work with. We rented tables & beautiful mahogany chairs from Wild Smile Events, as well as the Peacock chair featured as the ladies got ready provided by Megan at Vintage Pour.

Kyla at Bella Flora created a beautiful flower crown and helped Chelsey put together a flower order to complement their back yard, vintage, yet simple theme. Azsjeca Artistry provided stunning makeup and an easy going attitude to our hustling day!

And last but certainly not least… BOBBI! We chose Bobbi after getting to know her falling in love with her playful spirit and undeniable talent to capture every moment as though we were currently living in it. It was a no brainer for us. She went above and beyond from giving advice on planning our day, encouraging us to do it our way and going the extra mile to coordinate our big day just the way we wanted. I can’t say enough about how much of a rockstar she really is, and it shows!

We were so comfortable and had so much fun with Bobbi, she captured our love PERFECTLY. “
