Wedding Photography at Canmore Wedding Venue, The GEM.

Jess and Artur wanted a destination wedding for their family from across the world, so they looked for a Canmore wedding venue that would fit their needs: easy access, easy to find, easy all in one place. The Gem had is all–including rentals–and was indeed a gem. (Please appreciate my pun humour.)

Once that box was ticked, the couple was free to focus on Jess and her family own a flower farm and as you can see in their documentary wedding photography at their chosen Canmore wedding venue the Gem, the installation was absolutely EPIC. Not only did it serve as warm backdrop against the cool mountain view from the upper floor of the Gem wedding venue in Canmore, but we also took the installation for their couple portraits at the Canmore dog park (side note: only in Canmore Alberta would a dog park be an incredible spot for wedding photography!). When we got back to the Gem after a quick coffee at Eclipse, a storm settled down over the venue, making it even more cozy. The mid-century venue glimmered with candle light and the many, MANY tears in just about everyone’s eyes from laughter and remembering those not with them. Each and every speech from siblings to parents struck a chord.

As the night picked up and people wanted to move, this Canmore Wedding Venue’s dance floor became a whirlwind of joy and reminiscing. Everywhere were expressions that told stories of family love and shared history. The snugness of every hug, the cheer in every drink raised to a beautiful future made me feel like a part of their family for the night–and I bet that’s why Jess and Artur have such a tight knit group of people. They made everyone feel loved and valued.

Jess and Artur’s wedding wasn’t just another wedding; it was a wandering adventure that brought together two hearts, two families and two worlds. The combination of breathtaking nature and heartfelt celebration–my two favourite things in the world–made this experience a cherished chapter in my own journey as an observer and documenter of love.
