Bride and groom cry during first look at the ayrshire wedding

When Sarah and Corey first contacted me to talk about the Ayrshire wedding they were planning, it was only a few months before their wedding date. Corey had just asked Sarah to marry him, and she wore a beautiful ruby engagement ring to our zoom meeting. The ring was exceptionally special–it was Sarah’s grandma’s ring, and Oma had just passed away.

The Ayrshire Wedding: Sarah and Corey had their dream wedding where Sarah grew up!

I share this story because it’s emblematic of the deep connection not only between Sarah and Corey, but of the choices they made for their wedding day. It was a stunningly beautiful experience, because of their conscientious attention to all details, and even more so because of where and with whom they celebrated.

Here’s their story, in their own words:

1. Tell me about your thoughts leading up to the wedding… How did it feel to make your choices and marry one another?

The decision to marry one another, came from a place of immense love and appreciation for each other. We knew that our relationship was one we would cherish and care for until the end of time. Our marriage marked the start of building a life together, and sharing in the love that we have for one another – with all the people we hold most dear to us.

2. Why did you choose the Ayrshire for your wedding?

The farm where we chose to marry one another and say yes to a lifetime together, was a very special location. It was the farm where I grew up and spent the first 20 years of my life, making straw forts in the barn, running bareback on my horse through the field and spending countless hours with my closest friends and family. It was also the place where Corey first met my family, and was introduced to the world of competitive lawn games and hours of playing cards and drinking G & T’s. It was the place where Corey read me Harry Potter on the lawn, and where we shot pop bottles out of fruit trees in the backyard. The place we spent hours talking and getting to know one another, with long goodbyes underneath the sky full of stars. It was where our story began, and a very symbolic place to begin our next adventure together.

3. What was your favourite part of the day?

The whole day was filled with magic and beautiful moments of love. Although it is hard to pinpoint just one favourite, we both agree that the moment we both walked back down the aisle, was one of the greatest moments of the day.  As an official husband and wife, surrounded by all those we love and hold dear to us, we felt overwhelmed with a sense of joy and bliss.

4. What were your favourite details of the Ayrshire wedding and why?

As crazy as it sounds, every single detail of our wedding was truly perfect. From the delicious food (Kootenay Peach) to the exquisite floral arrangements (Olea Floral), there was not a single thing we would have changed. The food was incredible, and all the guests raved about it for weeks afterwards. The flowers brought to life all of my wildest flower dreams, the colours and arrangements were breathtaking.

Both Aroha (Barenaked Visuals) and Bobbi (Bobbi Barbarich Photography) did an incredible job of capturing the love and the essence of the day. To be able to have all those special moments of the day,  in both video and photo, is something we will treasure from now until forever.

Our DJ, Wyred Sound, did an awesome job ensuring every single person danced and grooved to the music. Even people who don’t normally get up and shake it, were moving to the music all night long.

Our makeup and hair ladies (Lokel Hair Studio; MUA Stacey Gatacre) were exceptional at creating works of art. All the girls looked stunning and their natural beauty was able to shine through. Bridal attire was by Azazie. Bridal gown by Bliss Bridal Kelowna. The men wore groomsmen attire by Moores.

Vintage Pour did a truly incredible job at serving both delicious drinks and endless positivity. We were overjoyed with the beautiful look of the cocktails and of the funky mobile bar.

The Ayrshire wedding venue was so special for hundreds of reasons, but the detail and work that went into creating a space that was both rustic and elegant – was truly remarkable. All of these details make the property full of photo opportunities, from the hay fields to the stone silo, there is not an angle that isn’t captivating. The prep rooms in the barn were perfect for getting ready with our bridal party. And the handbuilt arbour in the back was stunning and perfectly captured the rustic feeling of the property.

Danielle from Wild Smile Events was paramount to making the day everything that it was. She went above and beyond for us, both before and during our wedding day. There aren’t enough words to thank her and everyone who came together and worked so hard to make the day every bit as perfect as we had dreamed.

5. Why did you choose me?

We chose to go with Bobbi as our photographer because of the way she captures a moment. Her photos bring to life a moment that was shared, bringing with it the emotion, the love and the authenticity.  She is so kind and full of passion, being around her is like being with a childhood friend you have known for years. The life and love she brings to photos, is the same energy she brings to a room. It was a true pleasure to work with her and to receive photos that were a perfect expression of our love and of our wedding day.

Although we don’t feel fit to pass on any marriage advice, we know if you have the right team- your day will be as perfect as you imagined.

With all of our love and hugs,
Mr. and Mrs. Nolin
